Golden Jubilee Week...

Golden Jubilee

1963 - 2013

On 22nd May 2013 it will be 50 years since our school was dedicated by Bishop Wheeler, the Bishop of Leeds, and on Monday 22nd May we will begin a week of celebration to mark this important occasion!

The Golden Jubilee celebrations will begin with an opportunity for past pupils, teachers, parents and parishioners to visit our school to see it in operation and see the changes over 50 years!  On Monday 20th May between 10.30 - 11.30am school will be open to visitors, and everyone is welcome to join us!  Refreshments will be served by our School Council.  During the afternoon we are having a balloon release to mark the event, so if you see lots of balloons in the sky, they are from our school!

Tuesday 21st May is our Sporting day, with our Bradford City Penalty Shoot Out in the morning and a 'traditional' sports afternoon after lunch.  All parents are invited to join us for the Sports Afternoon at 1.30pm to cheer the children along!

The most important event in our celebrations takes place on Wednesday 22nd May at 1.30pm in the school hall.  This is our special Golden Jubilee Thanksgiving Mass and will be concelebrated by Monsignor John Wilson (Administrator of the Diocese of Leeds), Father Keiron Walker (Parish Priest) and Father Anthony Jackson (Former Parish Priest of St John the Evangelist).  We would be delighted for any parishioners, parents, staff and families, both past and present, to join us.

On Thursday morning we are having a whole school photograph taken so all children will need to be in full school uniform.  Parents will have the opportunity to buy a copy of the photograph and further details will be sent out in due course.  The Jubilee Celebrations culminate in a Jubilee Lunch when all the children are invited to have a party lunch and enjoy the delights of party food as a whole school! (Please do not send your child in with a lunch on that day as school will be providing one!)

At the end of this half term we always celebrate the Feast of Pentecost, the birthday of the church, and this year will be no different!  Our Pentecost Mass will be celebrated in the school hall at 11.15am and everyone is warmly invited to join us.  The children will then enjoy a Pentecost Picnic - hopefully outside in the sunshine! - which will complete a fantastic week of fun and celebration.

Please help us to make our Golden Jubilee a really special week in our school's history by joining us fo some of our celebrations!
