Below are the knowledge organisers for this half term...

English

In English we will be learning about Reportage Stories . We will start by reading 'Flood' by Alvaro F. Villa before comparing a range or wordless picture books. Children will then create their own reportage story based on an imaginary event that threatens our local community. 

Later in the term we will then focus on Non Chronological Reports before creating an infomation booklet about a famous world river and a poster about the water cycle.

We will continue to strengthen our mathematical fluency, problem solving and reasoning skills regularly within lessons.

Each week children will be set homework tasks on TTRS but we also encourage children to adopt a 'little and often' approach - 3 minutes practice per day, 4 or 5 times a week is a good target!

All children have individual login details and we will challenging the children through termly battles.

Multiplication Check

In June of 2024, the children in year four will be participating in a statutory multiplication check.

The purpose of the MTC is to determine whether pupils can recall their times tables fluently, which is essential for future success in mathematics. It will help schools to identify pupils who have not yet mastered their times tables, so that additional support can be provided.

To pass the check the children in this year group have to know their 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 ,10, 11 and 12 times tables and related division facts by heart. Children will need to answer 25 questions and will be allowed 6 seconds per question so fluency is key!

We will be doing lots of work towards this in class, however practise at home will be vital. We encourage children to use a 'little and often' approach and recommend at least 3 minutes 4 times a week.

Homework will be set on a Friday and is expected to be returned the following Wednesday.

It will consist of a TTRS task, a Spelling Shed task and independent reading.

Children need to read at least 4 times over the whole week to count as Green Readers.

Children's reading records must also be dated, commented in and signed by an adult on each of those days.

PE | Federation of Boldmere Schools

PE days are Thursdays and Fridays

On these days the children can come to school in their PE kits.

PE Kit is a red T-shirt and navy / black shorts or Plain Black /Navy Jogging bottoms and hoody in cold weather.

No Logos.
